Director of Marketing

Located in Hopkinton, MA, Phosphorex is a rapidly growing Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) specializing in drug delivery solutions, including sustained release and nanomedicine-based formulations. Phosphorex partners with customers in the biomedical community to develop a variety of particle-based pharmaceutical products. Phosphorex is investing heavily in its formulation, analytical development services and GMP manufacturing capabilities and expects completion of its new state-of-the-art production suites in late 2023.

Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Marketing Director to join our team and help drive the future growth of the Phosphorex organization.

The primary objective of this role is to establish Phosphorex as one of the top CDMO’s in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and biotechnology markets through development and deployment of robust strategic and tactical marketing activities.  The role will also focus on ensuring Phosphorex is attracting and retaining a diverse customer base and securing a pipeline of clients and projects that lead to consistent, sustainable, and predictable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes on the strategic planning process by assessing target industry / market data, gathering of market intelligence on competitors, customers and technology platforms, optimizing competitive positioning and creating compelling value propositions.
  • Responsible for all Marketing Communications to achieve the company’s short-term and long-term business development objectives, promoting Phosphorex to target customers in the bio/pharmaceutical market segments through advertising, on-line presence, conference attendance, and brand management.
  • Establish metrics and Key Performance Indicators to measure success of the strategic initiatives deployed and advise on course corrections as required.
  • Responsible for website management and optimization with a focus on lead generation of new clients within target markets (i.e. direct/SEO, SEM, advertising).
  • Responsible for optimizing all marketing channels, ensuring that the Phosphorex branding is consistent and follows corporate policies
  • Responsible for adapting and summarizing a wide range of technical content into key messages across multiple media platforms (web pages, e-blasts, advertisements, collateral, press releases, social media posts, infographics) to ensure an engaging user experience
  • Manage day-to-day marketing operations providing Phosphorex’s Business Development, Management, and technical staff with information, logistics and communications support to secure business.
  • Identify and manage all significant industry trade shows: key leads, follow-on messaging, tracking metrics to improve outcomes and return-on-investment
  • Effective management of the Marketing departments budget and expenditure to maximize market presence and brand equity creation.
  • Grow and develop the marketing department through hiring of key positions to ensure the function has the appropriate infrastructure to execute on all the associated tasks and activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in leading a Life-Science based Marketing department. A bachelor’s degree in a Life Science’s and formal Marketing qualifications / MBA preferred. 
  • Demonstrated marketing skills include branding, market definition, deep customer insight, positioning, segmentation, message development, marketing mix, and competitive strategy.
  • Proven leadership track record including strategic thinking, driving innovation, teamwork and collaboration.
  • Experience in the Contract Manufacturing (CMO) and/or Contract Research (CRO) markets specifically working on pre-clinical / clinical development of biologics.
  • Experience in launching new services or products to the market, life cycle management and optimization.
  • Hands-on, action-oriented and client focused to drive results and support new business growth goals.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Supervisory Responsibilities

 All supervisors are expected to perform typical supervisory tasks, including but not limited to: Performance management, mentoring and coaching. Setting annual goals and objectives for the department and individuals that support Phosphorex’s strategy and mission. Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks. Monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback.

Ability to lift 20Ibs such as exhibition material, demonstration equipment

Work Environment

A combination of remote and office-based work.  Travel up to 15% of the time to attend conferences, tradeshows and industry events and participate in training

Business Development Manager

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Business Development professional to join our team and help drive the future growth of the Phosphorex organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed the monthly, quarterly and annual sales and revenue targets for Phosphorex’s nanomedicine business.
  • Manage the assigned territory, prospecting for new business opportunities within the desired client base and actively manage and grow existing client relationships
  • Deploy effective key-account management strategies for key customers ensuring the client is ‘brick-walled’ into the relationship. Understand the clients buying process and actively expand Phosphorex’s share-of-wallet in the account.
  • Effectively articulate complex technical concepts utilizing a consultative selling approach that applies Phosphorex’s value proposition in nanomedicine applications to address unique preclinical and clinical manufacturing requirements.
  • Support market intelligence activities by engaging in Voice-of-the-Customer (VOC) initiatives, evaluation of existing and new technology platforms, industry trends and future needs of the customer and the wider market.
  • Understand the competitive environment and continuously hone Phosphorex’s value proposition and differentiators to ensure competitive advantage
  • Execute strategies for pricing optimization to support value capture targets and prevent margin erosion
  • Manage incoming sales leads, Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Proposal (RFP) from customers. Work closely with internal subject matter experts to generate and manage the proposal generation and submission process.  Identify and deploy opportunities to improve the proposal process and increase conversion rates
  • Manage and lead interactions with existing and prospective customers utilizing internal technical experts and stakeholders as needed to demonstrate Phosphorex’s expertise and capabilities
  • Manage Phosphorex’s Client Relationship Management (CRM) system, ensuring accurate client data, Opportunity Management and forecasting metrics are relevant and kept up to date. Generate relevant reports that demonstrate salesforce effectiveness
  • Support marketing and thought leadership activities via outreach campaigns, participation in conferences, tradeshows and industry forums / networking events
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements and Qualifications

  • B.S., M.S. in chemistry, biochemistry, material science, polymer sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, or related discipline
  • 5 years’ experience in a business development or sales and marketing role serving the biotechnology and biopharmaceutical marketplace
  • Proven territory management and client relationship skills
  • Experience with CRM systems such as Salesfore.com, HubSpot, SAP CRM
  • Demonstrate ability to work in fast-paced, team-oriented and self-directed entrepreneurial environment.
  • Effective presentation and meeting skills within all levels of the organization with internal and external colleagues and collaborators
  • Well-versed in Microsoft Office applications

Formulation Associate/Associate Formulation Scientist

Successful candidate would be able to learn novel formulation techniques and contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in developing complex parenteral formulations, including microspheres and nanoparticles.
  • Perform comprehensive characterization of candidate formulations, including particle size, payload content, in vitro release and stability.
  • Assist in formulation and process development to support proof of concept and pre-clinical studies
  • Manufacture microparticles and nanoparticles using clean processes under Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)
  • Interact effectively with other members in the multi-disciplinary team comprised of formulation, analytical and process development scientists
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments and other lab activities, compile and summarize data, prepare batch records, and generate reports
  • Adhere to safety standards and department SOPs

Requirements and Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in chemistry, biochemistry, polymer sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical engineering or related disciplines with a minimum of 0-5 years of experience (0-2 years for Masters)
  • Data driven, strong critical and analytical thinking
  • Hands-on laboratory experience is required
  • Understanding of emulsion process, colloid chemistry, and particle sciences is a plus
  • Experience in biodegradable polymeric systems and development of micro-and nano-particle formulations is a plus
  • Well-versed in Microsoft Office applications

We are seeking a motivated, talented, hard-working team player to join our group to work on various partner drug delivery programs to advance development of next generation formulations. Some of the therapeutic areas we work in include vaccine development, oncology, immunotherapy, and immuno-oncology.

Stand-out candidates will be passionate about designing and conducting experiments to support research and development projects in the areas of sustained release, targeted drug delivery, microspheres, nanoparticles, and solubility enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of polymer and lipid-based microsphere and nanoparticle formulations
  • Development and optimization of formulations and processes to support proof of concept and pre-clinical studies
  • Manufacture microparticles and nanoparticles using aseptic technique under GLP
  • Perform characterization including particle size analyzers, in vitro release, limited stability study
  • Compile and summarize data, prepare batch records
